The Daily Deluge of Details

With almost a year under our belts in this bizarre pandemic life, maybe this daily deluge of details means something completely different to me now in 2021 than it did in 2018, 2019 or even 2020.

Details. What details?!

If you are a person currently "in charge" of any other living being - be it a spouse or partner, children, elders, neighbors, or even pets - you are probably already either laughing out loud or rolling your eyes, as you my friend, know exactly what I mean.

Details. Paperwork. To do lists. Homework. Forms. Signatures. Emails. Deadlines. Errands. Deposits. Appointments. Registrations. Applications. Fees. Decisions. And on and on and on.

And this is completely separate from deciding what's for dinner and making sure you have the ingredients on hand.

With my family of six, seven if you intentionally count the dog too, the details and needs of family life can completely take over.

What a hysterical balance between crazy and calm. Every single day!

These days so many others are reminding us to simplify and prioritize.

Could each day, at a minimum, include:

  • Praying and reflecting (even if some days only 30 - 60 seconds)

  • Serving my family and my colleagues to the best of my ability

  • Enjoying life (or some portion of it) and relaxing at least a little bit

Until next week. Godspeed.
